To read about everything else that happened at the PlayStation State of Play in June 2022, including new looks at Final Fantasy 16, Horizon VR: Call of the Mountain, and more, check out our wrap-up article which contains all of the announcements, trailers, release dates, and more. The developer and publisher also shared its first in-depth look at Street Fighter 6, the next iteration in the iconic fighting game series. This wasn’t the only new game Capcom had to announce at the PlayStation State of Play. The State of Play event also revealed that Resident Evil Village (the eight Resident Evil game) will also be getting PlayStation VR2 content. We don’t have any info regarding last-gen consoles, but given the game’s release date, it’s possible that. It’s possible that Resident Evil 4 remake could feature two different perspectives, depending on which way you play, which is an enticing proposition. So far, Resident Evil 4 Remake has been confirmed for Xbox Series XS, PS5 and PC. Resident Evil 7 was played from the first-person perspective, and a recent VR port of Resident Evil 4 for the Oculus Quest 2 converted the traditionally third-person game to a first-person perspective. It’s unknown how the VR functionality will operate in the Resident Evil 4 remake. This is good news, given how strong and well-received the VR content was for the PlayStation 4 version of Resident Evil 7 – it remains one the best and most effective use-cases of the technology. The third-person shooter game will be available on PC, Wii, Nintendo, Xbox 360, iOS, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Meta Quest, and PlayStation 4. This is just a year after the rumored launch of a brand new Resident Evil 8 for current and next-gen consoles in 2021. It was also announced that the game will have VR compatibility with Sony’s upcoming PlayStation VR2 headset. According to VGC's sources, the remake has entered full production and will release at some point in 2022.
